CONQUERING MOUNTAINS… AND OURSELVES

The mountains have always played a significant part in my life. I grew up in Colorado along the Front Range with Rocky Mountain National Park just a half an hour away. Mini vacations as a family consisted of exploring different parts of the Rocky Mountains that surrounded us. We went there on a regular basis to get away, whether it was to drive, hike, ski, or camp. So naturally, I have always have had a passion for the outdoors.

The desire for adventure is at the core of every soul and most often found in the outdoors. Growing up as a kid, camping was regularly the big annual vacation. I remember loving it. Not knowing kids did anything else for a vacation. What could possibly be more fun than sleeping in a tent?

He paused to ask his dad if it was going to hurt. His father knew it would. “No boy. Just pull the trigger.” Two deep breaths and then Kabloom! The boy’s eyes were wide open with excitement. He took a breath and then yelled, “Yahoo! Did you see that dad? Did you see my shoulder pop out?”
